What NFL Coaches Could Be On The Hot Seat?

NFL

Matt Rhule of the Carolina Panthers has already been fired this season, and it came after Week 5. It doesn’t appear as if another NFL head coach will get fired anytime soon, but hey, you never know. Every year, a lot of head coaches usually get fired because they are underperforming or bad heads with the front office.

The NFL odds are out on some sportsbooks for the next head coach to potentially be fired either during this NFL season or after the 2022 NFL regular season. Which coaches are potentially on the hot seat?

Frank Reich

Frank Reich is the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, and there are signs of him potentially being fired. Reich has Indianapolis on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season, and he just recently fired his offensive coordinator, Marcus Brady. The first sign of your coaching career is on the line is when you make moves like that.

Former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge did that last season with former offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, and then Judge got fired once the season ended in 2021. Frank Reich is in similar territory here as well.

Mike Tomlin

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is on his way to finishing under .500 for the first time in his career. It is very possible the Steelers win no more than 3 or 4 games. A lot of it has to do with offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Tomlin refuses to make a change for the benefit of quarterback Kenny Pickett who is a rookie.

If Mike Tomlin refuses to fire Canada at the end of the season, it is very possible that Mike Tomlin gets fired and there are a lot of Pittsburgh Steelers fans that don’t want Tomlin back as well. They are going to be heading to a rebuilding stage and may benefit from an offensive coach. Mike Tomlin hasn’t won a playoff game in several years, and it might be time for a change.

Nathaniel Hackett

Nathaniel Hackett, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, has been dealing with a lot of heat in his first season as the head coach. It appears as if he is in over his head when it comes to being an NFL head coach. Just a season ago, he was the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.

Some will tell you that Hackett got a head coaching job because of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The NFL lines have Nathaniel Hackett as one of the next head coaches to get fired in the NFL. Hackett could be a one-and-done coach like Urban Meyer was with the Jacksonville Jaguars a season ago. One of the biggest problems with the Denver Broncos could actually be quarterback Russell Wilson.

He has been horrendous this season and has also dealt with shoulder problems as well. Wilson was acquired via trade from the Seattle Seahawks. If Hackett gets fired and the same problems arise, maybe it won’t be his fault after all of this drama.

Kliff Kingsbury

Kliff Kingsbury, the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, is on the verge of potentially being fired at the end of the season. Arizona on Vegas NFL odds has them finishing last in the NFC West. If that’s the case, he will be gone, and they will look for a new head coach to complement quarterback Kyler Murray well.

We will see what is going to happen behind the scenes because they are going to be featured on the in-season Hard Knocks on HBO. That is something that everyone is going to be paying attention to very closely throughout the rest of the 2022 NFL regular season with the Arizona Cardinals.

The NFC West is very well a one-team playoff-bound team this season, and it most likely will not be them. Arizona has a lot of talent on this roster, but this might be the end road for Kliff Kingsbury.
