The finance minister of the country once infamously bemoaned “millennial mentality”. Which preferred cab services over owning an automobile as a reason why the car making industry was facing a crisis. Never mind the fact that youngest people cannot afford to buy a car today, much less maintain it.

The minister is married to Congress-leaning economist and advisor Parakala Prabhakar and has a daughter with him named Parakala Vangmayi. The photo went viral on social media with the assumption that this was Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter.

Later clarified that the woman was not her daughter but an active duty soldier whose name was kept confidential. Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter is Vangmayi Parikala . She took a degree in English from Delhi University, and then did an MSc in Journalism from the United States. Born to a Tamil family, Nirmala Sitharaman education includes a Bachelor’s, Masters and MPhil in economics from various Indian institutions. She also enrolled in a Ph.D. program but was unable to complete it due to a shift to London. There is no denying the fact that Nirmala Sitharaman education is quite pervasive and in-depth. She does have significant qualifications for her position.

It cannot be denied that the finance minister’s tenure has been lackluster for a lot of reasons. The pandemic seemed to have arrived at the entirely wrong time for the economy, which has noted the biggest contraction in its GDP, ever. Many have suggested that the economic crisis was already in the making, and only exaggerated by the pandemic.

The condition of the economy was not well off even before Sitharaman took office. Some suggested that she may have been a scapegoat meant to take the fall for the collective misadventures the government has had concerning the economy. But now, the Finance Minister is finding herself in increasingly hostile waters. Both supporters and oppositions have expressed concern over the condition of the economy. Offhand comments by the minister, coupled with the lack of a clear economic plan to pull the country into post-pandemic recovery, have further raised tempers.
