Statue of Unity among Top Tourist Spots

Statue of Unity

After the inauguration of the world’s tallest statue, the 182 meter ‘Statue of Unity’, a grand tribute to the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, there were many people who feared that the statue will not be able to garner a lot of tourist attention, and will actually turn out to be a waste of public money. But breaking away from all such speculations and brushing aside all such fears, the Statue of Unity has become one of the topmost tourist destinations of India. According to government reports, the statue is generating approximately a whooping 30000 tourists every single day!

There were also reports which were saying that there is a very high demand for tickets which in fact resulted in a crash of Statue of Unity’s website in the initial days after its inauguration. The statue was inaugurated on October 31st with much fanfare. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself came and inaugurated the 2989 crore statue. The location of the statue is on the banks of River Narmada, on the Sadhu Bet islet on Sardar Sarovar Dam.

The statue, while being in news for breaking the record for the tallest statue in the world, was also in news for bad reasons. One reason was its monetary value, the cost, which people said could’ve been used for better purposes. Secondly, its location was such that some tribals of the area opposed it. Thirdly, there was a news surrounding it that the Statue was funded from Chinese investments, which turned out to be fake.

All in all, the fears of many people that the Statue will fail to attract any tourists or visitors for now look hollow. Earlier, it was reported that the first month collection of the Statue was 6.38 crore after over 2.5 lakh visitors bought their tickets to see this architectural masterpiece.
