Congress, AIADMK Walk Out in protest of Passing the Triple Talaq Bill In Lok Sabha

Lok Sabha on weekday passed the Muslim girls (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2018, while opposition parties staged a walkout when the govt. refused to refer the bill to a joint commission.

The Congress and therefore the AIADMK walked out when a five-hour discussion on the revised bill to form instant triple talaq was told to be a punishable offense. It was later passed by a voice vote.

While the opposition parties said the same they require a parliamentary committee to scrutinize the bill, the govt. argued that the Supreme Court, in an exceedingly landmark judgment last year, had dominated instant triple talaq “unconstitutional” and “arbitrary”.

Law minister sitar player Prasad said same that the bill shouldn’t be seen through the “prism of politics” but of humanity.

Considering the contentious bill earlier round-faced stiff resistance within the Rajya Sabha, the BJP on weekday reportedly issued a three-line whip to its Lok Sabha members, asking them to be present in Parliament once the bill was to be presented for discussion.

As Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said his party was staging a walkout from Parliament amid the triple talaq bill discussion, the AIADMK additionally supported his views and staged a walkout. Kharge said the bill is “divisive, discriminatory, unconstitutional and against the Muslim personal law” as he reiterated his demand for sending the bill to a joint select committee. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, thereafter, ordered that the lobbies be cleared for selection on the motion.

Ravi Shankar Prasad argued that ladies direction isn’t a political issue for his party- however, deterrence is vital to bring amendment within the society.

Earlier during a blistering attack, textile minister Smriti Irani said it is shameful for everybody that 477 cases of triple talaq came to light-weight during the Supreme Court findings. She opposed that even the Muslim jurisprudence says that Talaq-e-Biddat could be a criminal offense.
